Clayton High School Sophomore, Alex Zhang Earns Two Gold Medals at the 2019 Golden State International Wushu Championships & USAWKF Kungfu Team Trials

Recently, Alex Zhang, a student of Master Qi, competed in the 2019 Golden State International Wushu Championships as well as the tryouts for the USAWKF Kungfu Team. The event that he attended was hosted by the USA Wushu Kungfu Federation (USAWKF) on April 6 in San Jose, California and this specific competition was one of the largest and most influential ones that they host. In this one competition there was 726 atheletes that had participated.

At the competition Alex earned two gold medals in these events - Comtemporary Wushu Hand Form - Beginning Long Fist and Contemporary Wushu Long Weapon - Beginning Staff. Along with earning 2 gold medals he also earned a silver medal in the event called - Traditional Short Weapon - Traditional Straight Sword.

Because of his outstanding performance at the competition he was able to meet the requirements for joining the U.S. National Wushu Team. Now that he's on the team he will be competing in the 8th World Kungfu Championships held on June 14 in Emeishan, China.
